Marvel announces its 2024 Crossover Event at New York Comic Con!

Marvel's Next Big Thing Panel, which takes place every year at NYCC, always creates a stir. And this proved just as exciting when Marvel announced its big crossover event for 2024: BLOOD HUNT!

Vampires have been moving back into prominence in the Marvel Universe, especially with the re-introduction of Blade in his own title. In Spring 2024, Blade – and Marvel's Vampires will lead the way in Blood Hunt! Moon Knight and Avengers Writer Jed Mackey (who we interviewed on our Moon Knight show last year), and X-Men artists Peppe Larraz and Marte Gracia will handle art chores on the main book.

McKay had this to say about the pitch of the book: "We have vampires in our books all the time. There's some bad blood there. What happens if the shoe is on the other foot? We've got the Avengers, Moon Knight's Midnight Mission, Doctor Strange, Miles Morales, and of course, Blade, and there's going to be more vampires you can shake a stick at."

Mckay and Marvel promised the series will have major stakes as the Vampire race begins a crusade of terror! Crossovers are somewhat of a 'love 'em or hate 'em' enterprise of late. On the plus side, they can of course tell great stories that have lasting value for the reader and introduce them to more titles. On the negative... well, the introduction of those titles (as well as specially produced main titles and one-shots) can often push the cost of getting all the tie-ins to over $100-$200. As well as the fact that they often interrupt the flow of regular books. As with previous crossovers, will 'also spill out into a host of tie-in issues in Marvel’s hottest current series and see the launch of all-new limited series, one-shots, and redefining status quos', as per Marvel's press release. But with McKay 'show-running' the event and Larraz and Garcia front and center on art, we could be looking at a major event that could move the needle. Check out the trailer below!
